Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. ("AEV") is UnionBank's largest stakeholder which held 43.3% ownership as of March 31, 2013. AEV, a member of Aboitiz Group of Companies, is an industrial and commercial conglomerate based in Southern Philippines that is engaged in power generation and distribution, real estate, food and financial services.
Social Security System (“SSS”), the country's provider of social security to workers in the private sector, held 19.2% stake in UnionBank as of March 31, 2013. SSS is one of the country’s biggest and strongest pension fund, offering enhanced services to benefit its members.
Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd. (“Insular Life”), as of March 31, 2013 have 16.1% stake in UnionBank. Insular Life has the distinction of being the first Filipino life insurance and the only Filipino mutual life insurance company.
