Can I shop on the Internet with my E-ON Electron?

Yes! Your E-ON VISA Electron is the first VISA Electron card in the Philippines that you can use to shop on the internet. And when you shop from an online store based in another country, E-ON usually provide you with the best exchange rates available. To help you enjoy your internet shopping experience, make sure you:

  • Use a secure browser.

  • Netscape Navigator version 2.0 (or higher), or any version of Microsoft Internet Explorer provides you with an added level of security, called SSL. SSL automatically encrypts, or scrambles, your order and payment details before sending them to the merchant, ensuring your privacy and the integrity of your order.

To ensure the merchant you are visiting is using this security measure, look for an unbroken key of a lock in the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. The internet address on the location bar should have an "s" after the "http".

  • Keep your password secret.

  • Some online merchants require you to register a user name and password along with your payment card details before buying an item. This password can be used to authorize purchases from that merchant, so treat it as carefully as you treat your ATM Personal Identification Number (PIN).

  • Shop with reputable online merchants.

  • If you're not familiar with an online store, take the same precautions you would with traditional mail and telephone merchants. Do internet shopping with merchants supported by your bank. So do internet shopping wisely, shop at www.unionbankph.com.

  • Check delivery and return policies of the online merchant.

  • Make sure you can return unsatisfactory items and check to see if you can get your money refunded or if you will receive a merchandise credit. Sales policies should cover the delivery methods and cost of delivery, currency accepted, taxes applied, return and refund policy and a contact number or email address.

  • Keep a record of your transactions.

  • Make sure you keep a record of your transactions: an order confirmation number and a summary of the price and quantity of purchase. To make sure you were billed correctly, always log-on to your E-ON account to check how much was debited.
