Tacloban Branch: The 1st bank branch in the Philippines to earn LEED Gold Certification
Along with the distinction of being the first bank to restore operations after Super Typhoon Yolanda ravaged the province in 2013, UnionBank Tacloban scored another first by being the 1st Bank branch to earn LEED Gold Certification. The Tacloban branch is also the only LEED certified project in the Eastern Visayas region.
Awarded by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) is an internationally recognized symbol of excellence for green building design and construction that promotes a healthy, durable, affordable, and environmental practice in building design and construction.
In upholding the Bank’s efforts to achieve sustainable banking, the following measures have been put in place: Water efficiency, Indoor environmental quality, Site sustainability, Energy and atmosphere; and Materials and resources.
This is just the beginning of the Bank’s sustainability initiatives. Expect more LEED-news to come soon!
