UnionBank Partners with STI for U:HAC 4.0
Last December, UnionBank HR successfully organized the UnionBank Hackathon (U:HAC) 4.0 exclusively targeted to STI students.
Held at the Sky Lounge of UnionBank Plaza, 85 STI students, mostly seniors taking up IT courses, participated in the hackathon. These students were divided into 9 teams who banged their brains and creativity to produce the best digital applications that addressed the problems presented during the 2-day event.
STI College Caloocan emerged as the champions in U:HAC 4.0 for their winning app entry Union Mobile Pay (UM Pay). The mobile application can show different companies and the products they sell, which customers can order via different methods as they register in the app system. The group won the double up prize of P100,000.
STI College Edsa Munoz took home the second prize of P30,000 for its website Rising Farmer where the webpage will provide loans to farmers. In exchange, the farmers can market and sell their products. Once a buyer purchases the farmer’s products through the website, the farmer’s loan will be deducted from the purchased amount and if there is a remaining profit, it will be directly placed to the farmer’s bank account.
STI College Tanauan was declared the third place winner for their unique digital project Take Your Time. What they presented was a Student Attendance Monitoring mobile solution that uses technology-driven tag card as student ID and a smartphone that can read the tag card to bring more advance features in attendance monitoring. They won P20,000.
The entire event provided the different STI students to do a friendly competition amongst their fellow STI students and showcase their talents and skills to a wider audience such as UnionBank, who continues to organize events such as U:HAC to look for creative minds it can hone and help develop their professional careers.
U:HAC 3.0 was organized in partnership with Red Wizard, IBM Bluemix and Chikka API.
