Going Beyond

Celebrating Togetherness With A Thanksgiving Party

By Susan C. Corral / BRM Metro West Region

“It is better to give than to receive.”  This moral lesson is imparted to us by our parents very early on in our lives.  All of us are lucky enough to experience the truth to this life lesson at different points in our lives.

Certainly, all of us who participated in our GoBeyond Communities projects, Tara, Laro Tayo, Haven for Children and Tree Planting at Calauan, Laguna have felt this wonderful feeling. The community involvement (UBUNTU) and dedication of Unionbank employees to fulfill and make these projects successful made it even more memorable.

To give thanks and recognize the efforts of our employees who participated on these projects, the leadership of Cluster B RSOOs in coordination with GoBeyond Communities and HR Services Head Pam Galoyo and the assistance of Lead 8 Management Trainee Michael Xavier Ma. Cheng Tobias and BRM Susan C. Corral, organized a “Thanksgiving Party” to all volunteers last March 18, 2016 at McDonald’s Blue Bay.  The event was attended by RSOOs Malu A. Taino, Malou I. Ferrer, Fely C. Umali, Roel C.  Brion, Kaye R. Tolentino and SD Jo Ann L. Tolentino along with more than sixty volunteers.

Dasma-Gacu Branch Manager Gina Marie C. Mendoza led the short prayer that was followed by a short kick-off message from Sr. RSOO Malu A. Taino.  A brief chronological record of events of GoBeyond Communities via videos was shared by RSOO Roel C. Brion.  Then all volunteers were called one by one and were given special tokens by RSOOs together with SD Jo Ann L. Tolentino.

To enjoy the camaraderie of everyone who attended the Thanksgiving Party, various games were played during the event. There were lots of excitement among the volunteers especially in the “bring me” game.  A memorable dance number between McDonald’s mascot Hamburglar and SSA Ofel del Carmen occurred.

It was indeed a great thanksgiving party with old friends meeting again and former bosses and employees were reunited. Everyone took tons of photos while conversing with one another with joy and laughter.

RSOO Malou I. Ferrer concluded the special by delivering a heartfelt message thanking everyone for their generosity of spirit and time.

This thanksgiving party was truly something to remember because aside from uniting and acknowledging everyone’s efforts, it brought a smile to everyone knowing that they have indeed MADE DA DIFF and shall continue to MAKE DA DIFF in other people’s lives.
